Keep a Turkish number active abroad by reading Turkcell's two starts for a Hazır Kart line: 60 days after first activation, and 185 days after a single load of 200 TL or more. Open the Turkcell card before you leave. Miss the load in the first 60 days and a 95-day half-active period starts. Miss it again during the 185 days and a 180-day half-active period starts.

What happens in the first 60 days?

The price page gives a new line 60 days of use, then a 95-day half-active period if the 200 TL load does not happen. For customers who bought a Turkcell prepaid line by a new setup, MNT, a payment-type change, or a return, you can make calls, receive calls, and use the prepaid services for 60 days from first activation. If during those 60 days you do not load 200 TL or more in one payment, as TL or as a package, and you do not receive a transfer of 200 TL or more, a 95-day half-active period starts. During that period callers can reach you, but even if TL remains on the line you cannot make calls, send SMS, or use data. If you do not load TL by the end of that half-active period, the same page says the Hazır Kart number is canceled and the line cannot be used again. What do the 185 days and the 180 days do?

Those clocks start after the 200 TL load, not from the day the SIM was first switched on. The same price page states: "Turkcell Faturasız Hattınızı satın aldıktan sonra tek seferde 200 TL ve üzeri TL, paket yüklediğiniz andan veya 200 TL ve üzeri TL Transfer aldığınız tarihten itibaren hattınız ile 185 gün boyunca telefonunuzdan arama yapabilir, aranabilir ve tüm Hazır Kart hizmetlerinden yararlanabilirsiniz. From the moment you load 200 TL or more in one payment, as TL or as a package, or from the date you receive a transfer of 200 TL or more, you can make calls, receive calls, and use the Hazır Kart services for 185 days. If you do not repeat that load or transfer during those 185 days, a 180-day half-active period starts. Callers can still reach you. You cannot make calls, send SMS, or use data, even with TL left on the line. The page also says that to keep using the line you load at least 200 TL in one payment, as TL or as a package, or receive a transfer of at least 200 TL, once every 185 days. If you do not load again by the end of the half-active period, the Hazır Kart number is canceled and the line cannot be used again. The half-active period is not a freeze you apply for. It starts when the load is missed.

What if the last load was between January and March?

A last load in that window has its own ending, in the last week of December. The same price page states: "Bunun yanında, her yılın 1 Ocak - 29 Mart arasında son yüklemesini yapmış aboneler 185 gün boyunca arama yapabilir, aranabilir ve tüm Hazır Kart hizmetlerinden yararlanabilir. Bu 185 gün süresince tekrar TL/paket yüklenmezse “Yarı Aktif Dönem” başlar. Yarı aktif dönemde arayanlar size ulaşabilir, ancak siz hattınızda TL olsa dahi arama yapamaz, sms atamaz data kullanımı yapamazsınız."

Subscribers whose last load was between 1 January and 29 March can make calls, receive calls, and use the Hazır Kart services for 185 days. If no further TL or package is loaded during those 185 days, a half-active period starts. Callers can reach you, and you cannot make calls, send SMS, or use data even if TL remains. If you do not then load 200 TL or more in one payment, or receive a transfer of at least 200 TL, the line is canceled in the last week of December of that year and cannot be used again. That December close is this paragraph. It is not the 180-day count in the paragraph above.

When does the half-active period grow by 30 days?

The page prints three ways to add 30 days, and each one stays inside the same year. The same price page states: "Yarı aktif dönem sonunda, eğer hediye edilen bakiyelerin tamamını harcadı iseniz ve 0 TL üzerinde bakiyeniz var ise yarı aktif döneminiz 30 gün daha uzatılır."

At the end of the half-active period, if you have spent all of the gifted balances and your balance is above 0 TL, the half-active period is extended by another 30 days. On that extension the wireless usage fee is collected from the balance, and using the balance further still takes a load of 200 TL or more, or a credit transfer of 200 TL or more. The same page also extends the period by 30 days if, in the month before it would close, you receive a domestic call or a call from abroad, and again if the line receives a signal in that month. Each extension is made so that it remains inside the same year. If there is no load, the lines are closed at the end of the year. A twelve-month holding price is unverified. The 200 TL figure is the load the page names, not a price for twelve months away.

Does a load in January follow the 180-day clock?
