Keep a TIM Italy number active abroad. The card lasts 12 months and is deactivated after 13. Free reinstatement is a call to 119 within 11 months of expiry.

Keep a TIM Italy number active abroad from the help page that gives the card 12 months, deactivates it after 13, and then offers a free call to 119. The extra month inside the 13 is for receiving calls and SMS. Reinstatement is a request you make, within 11 months of expiry.

Where do the 12 months start?
Three starts are printed, and a top-up is one of them. TIM's reactivation help, checked 8 October 2026, states: "La TIM Card ha una durata di 12 mesi decorrenti dalla sua attivazione; dall'ultima operazione di ricarica; da altro evento commerciale, di vendita o post-vendita esplicitamente richiesto dal cliente - gratuito od a pagamento - o che comunque determina oneri a suo carico (secondo quanto previsto dalle relative condizioni di offerta)."
A TIM card lasts 12 months from activation, from the last top-up, or from another commercial event you explicitly requested, free or paid, or that creates a charge for you under the offer conditions. Top up if you want that clock to start again.
What happens at 13 months?
The card and the number will be deactivated if none of those operations happened. The same TIM help page states: "La tua TIM Card e la numerazione ad essa associata, saranno quindi disattivate trascorsi 13 mesi (12 mesi + 1 mese per ricevere chiamate e SMS) qualora tu non proceda ad effettuare una delle suddette operazioni."
The TIM deactivated after 13 months wording is this sentence. The card and the number will be deactivated after 13 months, and the parenthetical is 12 months plus 1 month to receive calls and SMS, if you do not carry out one of the operations above. Do a top-up or request one of those events before then.
What is the call to 119?
The reinstatement is free, and the limit is 11 months from expiry. The same TIM help page states: "In caso di scadenza della tua TIM Card, hai la possibilità di richiedere gratuitamente al 119 il reintegro ossia la riattivazione del numero entro il termine massimo di 11 mesi dalla sua scadenza."
The TIM free reinstatement within 11 months, and the TIM 119 reinstatement, are this sentence. If the card has expired, you can request reactivation of the number free on 119, within a maximum of 11 months from expiry. Call 119 and ask. The twelve-month cost cell stays unverified, because the 12 months on this page are a duration. Whether roaming is required to receive a code is unverified. Indonesia counts a 30-day grace, which is a different clock from these 13 months.
