Keep an MTN Ghana number active abroad from clause 3.8 and clause 8.2 of the pay-as-you-go terms, where the same 90 days carry two verbs. Clause 3.8 says the customer shall lose the number the moment MTN cancels. Clause 8.2 says the customer may lose the number if MTN cancels.
The help page, timestamped July 02, 2026, marks the reservation Reserve Number (Prepaid Only). That page prints 12 months at GHS 15 or 24 months at GHS 25. The Ghana page sets this card next to the student count. The reservation and the two clauses stay on different pages.
What clause 3.8 counts as use
An MTN Ghana 90 day chargeable call, or a text message the customer sends, is the use this clause requires. MTN Ghana shall lose the number when canceled, and the third sentence times that loss to the moment MTN cancels. MTN's pay-as-you-go terms, checked 6 October 2026, in clause 3.8, state: "You shall be required to use our Services at least once within any 90 day period either by making a chargeable call or sending a text message. Should you fail to make a rechargeable call or send a text message within the specified period, we reserve the right to suspend your access to services and/or cancel this Agreement. The moment we cancel this agreement, you shall lose your right to your phone number and any unused Top up credit on the account."
The second sentence says rechargeable. That is the word printed there, beside chargeable in the sentence before it. The reserved right is to suspend access and/or cancel the agreement. Shall lose is in the sentence that starts when MTN cancels. Day 90 is the period in the opening sentence. Pakistan is a different shape: Jazz, Zong and Ufone each print their own recharge clock.
What clause 8.2 says if MTN cancels
This MTN Ghana 90 day line says the customer may lose the number if MTN cancels. The ground itself is one item in a suspension list: the customer chooses not to use the services within a 90 day period, either by making a chargeable call or sending a text message. After that list, suspension may result in the agreement being canceled. The same terms then state: "If we cancel this Agreement, you may lose your phone number and any unused Top Up credit on your account (see Clause 10.3)."
May stays may. The sentence points at clause 10.3 for what cancellation does to the account. Top Up is capitalized here. Clause 3.8, quoted above, prints Top up in lowercase and uses shall. Whether an incoming message or a roaming call counts as the chargeable call or the sent text is unverified on clause 8.2.
What the two reservation prices are
MTN Number for Life is 12 months at GHS 15 on the help page. The MTN Ghana prepaid reserve for 24 months is the second price, GHS 25. That help page, timestamped July 02, 2026, states: "Option 1: Reserve for 12 months at GHS 15 Option 2: Reserve for 24 months at GHS 25"
The card's twelve-month cell is the printed 12 months at GHS 15. Both prices are printed on that page as a 12-month reservation and a 24-month reservation. Starting the reservation is what the help page describes. Clause 3.8 remains the sentence about a chargeable call or a text the customer sends. The options page is where this hold sits next to parking the number or letting it go.
What the confirmation sentence prints
The same help page states: "Once completed, you’ll receive a confirmation message, and your number will be secured for the selected duration."
The duration in that sentence is the 12 months or the 24 months selected on the page. The pay-as-you-go clauses above are still the contract.
