Keep your Freedom Mobile number active while abroad
Freedom prepaid keeps incoming calls and texts after a missed plan top-up, then fully suspends. The number is reserved 90 days after suspension.

Freedom's prepaid billing page is a missed-payment sequence, not a silence clock. The first missed plan fee turns outbound service off and leaves incoming calls and texts on.
Incoming, after the plan fee is missed
The prepaid billing page starts that first stage: "If you are a Prepaid customer and forget to top up your plan fee: your data and outbound services will be suspended, incoming calls and text messages will still work, and any unused top-up balance in your account will be on hold." Data and outbound stop. Incoming calls and texts still work. Unused top-up balance is on hold. The same page requires a top-up in full, for plan and Add-Ons fees, to reinstate service. curl's HTML letter-spaces that restore sentence; a WebFetch of the same URL on 28 September 2026 returned it as ordinary prose.
Freedom's billing page is, of the three prepaid documents on the Canada page, the document that states incoming calls and texts after a missed plan top-up. Brazil's regulation requires incoming calls and texts during a regulator-defined suspension. That duty is not this billing page.
Then everything is disabled
If the top-up still does not arrive, the same page moves the line: "If you still do not top up: all remaining services will become disabled, and you will be at risk of losing your phone number and forfeiting any unused top-up balance." Incoming is in the first stage. This stage turns remaining services off.
Ninety days from the suspension
The reservation is counted from the suspend, not from the last successful top-up. The billing page reserves the phone number for 90 days after the service is suspended, then reserves the right to deactivate and re-use it. curl's HTML letter-spaces that reservation sentence; the WebFetch that day returned it as ordinary prose. The page does not give a day count for how long the incoming-still-works stage lasts before full suspension.
Before you fly
- A missed plan fee is the event the billing page counts. It is not a CRTC seven-day balance rule.
- Incoming calls and texts are in the first missed-payment stage. Full suspension is the next stage.
- The 90 days start after the service is suspended.
- Restore is the plan and add-on fees in full. Unused top-up balance is on hold in the first stage and at risk later.
